(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—Brent Hoerr of Palmyra, Mo., assumed the role of Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) president effective Oct. 1. Elected during the organization’s August board meeting, Hoerr succeeded Clint Stephens of Advance, Mo.

Hoerr previously served the state’s growers as MCGA vice president, as well as Missouri Corn Merchandising Council chairman, vice chairman, secretary, and treasurer. Hoerr also represents corn farmers nationally, volunteering his time with the U.S. Grains Council Innovation and Sustainability Advisory Team.

“As corn farmers, it is vital to be involved and informed as our industry continues to face challenges and the economy continues to fluctuate,” noted Hoerr. “It’s an honor to help lead the Missouri Corn Growers Association and work on those issues where we can make a difference for growers across the state.”

Hoerr continued, “There’s a lot of things we can’t control–like what we experienced with this year’s drought–and many forces working against us for their own interests. But whether it is fighting to protect crop insurance, looking for avenues to increase funding for trade opportunities, or pushing for legislation to support ethanol, MCGA continues to be our corn growers’ seat at the table.”

MCGA is a grassroots organization committed to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development, and strong involvement in the political process. To learn more, visit www.mocorn.org
