Boerding Elected To Missouri Corn Board

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—Jim Boerding of St. Charles, Mo., was recently elected to the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) board of directors. Boerding began his volunteer service to corn farmers effective Oct. 1.

“Being elected to the Missouri Corn board is a great opportunity to represent growers in my area and across the state,” noted Boerding. “Too often these days, folks feel like they don’t have time to get involved, but we have to speak up if we want to be heard. Living near the river, the importance is heightened on issues like transportation, infrastructure, and exports. If growers don’t stay informed and show up, we’ll have entities who know little about agriculture making decisions on our behalf.”

Boerding replaces Mark Scott of Wentzville, Mo., on the MCMC board of directors. He will be nominated as a candidate for the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board at the organization’s annual meeting in January.

“We look forward to welcoming Jim to the board,” said incoming MCMC Chairman Brent Hoerr of Palmyra. “We have a great staff that keeps us up to date on the ever-changing issues and a diverse board ready to work. Jim will be a great addition and a fresh perspective as we continue to expand and protect markets for Missouri corn farmers.”

The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research, and education. To learn more, visit www.mocorn.org.
