Palmyra Farmer Named Missouri Corn Chairman
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—Brent Hoerr of Palmyra, Mo., stepped into the role of Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) chairman effective Oct. 1. Elected during the organization’s August board meeting, Hoerr succeeded Clint Stephens of Advance, Mo.
Hoerr previously served the state’s growers as MCMC vice chairman, secretary, and treasurer as well as Missouri Corn Growers Association vice president. Hoerr also represents corn farmers nationally, volunteering his time with the U.S. Grains Council Innovation and Sustainability Advisory Team.
“While every farm is unique, we share similar end goals of meeting the needs of our customers in a way that allows us to continue the tradition for the next generation,” noted Hoerr. “Missouri Corn is working hard to address the big challenges impacting growers in order to help keep today’s family farm profitable.”
Hoerr continued, “Expanding corn and corn co-products exports remains a top priority while ensuring continued growth for ethanol and livestock demand here at home. With sustainability being a top priority for farmers and consumers, we continue to explore new initiatives that will lay the groundwork for future opportunities. As we look to the year ahead, I thank Clint for his leadership and my fellow growers for volunteering their time and energy to help move our industry forward.”
The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is committed to market development, research, and education. To learn more about the corn industry in Missouri, visit www.mocorn.org.
