Corn Growers Support Parson In Governor Race

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–The Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) today announced its support for Gov. Mike Parson in the 2020 election. A membership-based organization representing corn farmers across the state, MCGA endorses candidates with proven records on policy issues impacting corn growers.

“This is the earliest we’ve ever voted to endorse a gubernatorial candidate,” said MCGA President Mark Scott of Wentzville. “Given our long history, the strong track record, and his years of public service on behalf of corn growers, it was obvious Gov. Mike Parson checked all the boxes-and then some.”

Parson was awarded the Friend of Corn Growers Award in 2011 and 2013 for his strong support in the State Capitol on corn and ethanol initiatives. He was also recognized with the Public Servant Award in 2016 for his statewide efforts in supporting the passage of Amendment 1, the Missouri Farming Rights Amendment. Most recently, Gov. Parson signed Senate Bill 391 into law, allowing farm families the opportunity to meet the growing global food demand.

“Our association strives to support candidates with a proven track record of promoting and defending the issues impacting corn farmers,” Scott said. “Gov. Parson is a proven leader for this state’s top industry and we’re proud to lend our support in the upcoming election.”
