Corn Growers Welcome News Of New NAFTA

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Missouri Corn Growers Association President Mark Scott of Wentzville released the following statement in the wake of today’s published trilateral trade announcement with the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Formerly known as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and now renamed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the preliminary agreement would maintain valuable markets for corn growers.

“After a challenging growing season, it is encouraging to see Canada and Mexico come to the table with a tentative trade deal. We have been working closely with our Congressional delegation and industry leaders on this issue and look forward to digging into the details of the new NAFTA.

“Mexico and Canada continue to be two top tier customers when it comes to purchasing corn and corn co-products. We look forward to building the relationships and hope this trade pact brings some needed stability to the marketplace.”
