Missouri Corn Growers Welcome Governor Mike Parson
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—From farmers to a farmer, the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) appreciates Lt. Gov. Mike Parson’s role as a dedicated public servant and now governor.
“While he didn’t ask for this post, we feel confident Mike Parson is the right person to help bridge the divides and grow a better Missouri,” said MCGA President Kyle Kirby, a corn and cattle farmer from Barton County. “Farming is a way of life. It’s also a tough business to be in right now because of low commodity prices and uncertainties in the marketplace. There aren’t many policymakers like Mike Parson who can fully appreciate these challenges. We welcome his leadership moving forward and offer our full support as he takes his place as the 57th governor of Missouri.”
Parson has a long history of working with corn growers. In 2011 and 2013, he received the Friend of Corn Growers Award for his strong support in the State Capitol on corn and ethanol initiatives. In 2016, Parson was endorsed by MCGA during his campaign for lieutenant governor. A membership-based organization representing corn farmers across the state, MCGA endorses candidates with proven records on policy issues impacting corn growers.
“Mike Parson has a longstanding relationship with Missouri’s agriculture community,” according to Gary Marshall, MCGA chief executive officer. “From his strong support for biofuels, livestock production, and his leadership on the Missouri Farming Rights Amendment, Mike has been there for us. We feel confident he possesses the skills to be a remarkable governor for Missouri.”
MCGA was formed in 1978 to advance policies that will help protect the rights of members, build new markets for corn and increase opportunities through partnerships within agriculture and beyond. To learn more, visit www.mocorn.org.
