Hays Elected To Missouri Corn Board
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Scott Hays of Monroe City, Mo., was recently elected to the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) board of directors by growers in District 3. Hays began his service to corn farmers effective Oct. 1.
“I’m excited to join the Corn Growers board,” said Hays. “Having been involved in both the production side of the corn industry, and as an end user, I believe I can bring a broad perspective to the table.”
Hays is a partner in Two Mile Pork, a family farming operation near Monroe City, Mo. He is currently serving as chairman of the Missouri Pork Association, sits on the board of directors for Producers Choice Soy Energy and is a board member for Bear Creek Genetics.
Hays fills the seat previously held by Mark Goldinger of Hannibal, Mo., on the MCMC board of directors. He will be nominated to the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board at the organization’s annual meeting in February.
“Serving on the Missouri Corn board is a real honor and learning experience,” notes Billy Thiel, past MCMC chairman and MCGA president. “Our goal is to best serve Missouri corn farmers and Scott’s experience as an end user will provide valuable insight as we explore opportunities to promote the corn industry.”
The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research and education. MCGA is a grassroots organization of more than 2,300 members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development and strong involvement in the political process.
