Lehman Elected To Missouri Corn Board

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Brian Lehman of Versailles, Mo., was recently elected to the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) board of directors. Lehman began his service to corn farmers effective Oct. 1.

“It’s important farmers take advantage of the opportunities to be involved and take initiative in the agriculture industry,” noted Lehman. “We can make a difference by learning more about what happens beyond the farm and by taking the time to talk with elected officials about the issues impacting our industry.”

Lehman has farmed for 24 years growing corn, soybeans and wheat in addition to beef cattle. He serves as the Morgan County Farm Bureau president, is on the Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District board and sits on the county University of Missouri Extension Council. Brian is also a graduate of the Missouri CornRoots Leadership Academy.

Lehman replaces Kurtis Gregory of Marshall, Mo., on the MCMC board of directors. He will be nominated to the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board at the organization’s annual meeting in January.

The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research and education. MCGA is a grassroots organization of more than 2,500 members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development and strong involvement in the political process.
