Corn Growers Support Parson In Lieutenant Governor Race
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—The Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board of directors voted Aug. 5 to endorse Sen. Mike Parson in his bid for lieutenant governor. A membership-based organization representing corn farmers across the state, MCGA endorses candidates with proven records on policy issues impacting corn growers.
“Senator Parson is one of the few farmers serving in elected office, an unwavering advocate of corn and ethanol issues as well as a key leader in passing the Missouri Farming Rights Amendment,” said MCGA President Morris Heitman of Mound City. “Our association strives to support candidates with a proven track record of promoting and defending the issues impacting corn farmers. Mike Parson has been a leader for Missouri agriculture and is deserving of our support.”
Parson was awarded the Friend of Corn Growers Award in 2011 and 2013 for his strong support in the State Capitol on corn and ethanol initiatives. MCGA has endorsed U.S. Senator Roy Blunt for re-election as well as Attorney General Chris Koster for governor.
MCGA was formed in 1978 to advance policies that will help protect the rights of over 2,600 farmer-members, build new markets for corn and increase opportunities through partnerships within agriculture and beyond. To learn more, visit www.mocorn.org.
