Missouri Corn Growers Support Roy Blunt

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Today the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA), a membership organization working on behalf of the state’s corn growers, announced their endorsement of Roy Blunt in the 2016 U.S. Senate race. Standing alongside fellow statewide agriculture associations at the Missouri State Fair, MCGA President Kevin Hurst touted Blunt’s longstanding commitment to agriculture.

“Today we are proud to endorse Senator Roy Blunt for re-election to the United States Senate,” said Hurst of Tarkio. “Since his election to the Senate, Sen. Blunt has been unwavering in his support of the issues impacting corn farmers. He has stayed committed to Missouri produced ethanol and the RFS, as well as the science behind biotechnology. More recently his work to pass Trade Promotion Authority shows his working knowledge of agriculture priorities. We thank Sen. Blunt for supporting Missouri’s corn farmers and we look forward to his next term in the U.S. Senate.”

In order to receive MCGA’s endorsement, Blunt had to meet criteria established by the organization’s board of directors, a governing body comprised of 14 corn farmers from across the state. These criteria include a strong voting record on priority corn issues as well as approval by a minimum 80 percent vote by the board.  

“Corn growers across Missouri understand that supporting pro-growth policy and keeping big government off their farms is critical to ensuring agriculture remains the largest economic driver in our state,” said Blunt. “I’m thankful for the support of the Missouri Corn Growers Association, and I’ll keep fighting against misguided policy that discourages job creation and infringes on the rights of farm families across Missouri.”
