(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) Secretary Jay Fischer and his wife Kim of Jefferson City were recognized during the 46th Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture last week for their agritourism business. Fischer’s were presented with the AgriMissouri Missouri Fun Award during the Taste of AgriMissouri Reception Dec. 16 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach.

Fischers have farmed for more than 25 years, growing corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, pumpkins and watermelons. Along with their daughter Jena, they operate Fischer Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, welcoming over 15,000 visitors to their corn maze and pumpkin patch each fall.

In addition to serving as MCMC Secretary, Jay works on behalf of the state’s corn farmers as a director on the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) board. Fischer also works to strengthen and build corn and ethanol markets for Missouri growers internationally through his service on the U.S. Grains Council Ethanol Committee.
