Missouri Corn Growers Applaud Water Injunction
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)–Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) President Kevin Hurst of Tarkio, Mo., released the following statement in response to yesterday’s preliminary injunction issued against the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule.
“The ruling from the U.S. District Court for North Dakota granting a preliminary injunction against the Waters of the U.S. rule proves the Environmental Protection Agency crossed the line. WOTUS was wrong from the start.
“This injunction protects Missouri and twelve other states involved in the lawsuit from the immediate impacts of the rule. Our thanks go out to Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster for leading the charge and defending Missouri landowners from an out-of-control EPA.
“While this temporary injunction is a welcome reprieve, this issue is a long way from over. The U.S. Senate needs to follow the lead of the U.S. House of Representatives and pass Senate Bill 1140 to force EPA to pull the rule as written.”
